ORGANIZATION: CORNER HEALTH CENTER

Locations:

Varying locations and events in the community.

Purpose:

Volunteers will represent the Corner Health Center at community events:

  • Inform the community about services and programs offered at the Corner.
  • Engage youth ages 12-25 and their parents to encourage them to come to the Corner for all their health needs.
Time Commitment:

1 hour training and attend at least 6 community events a year.

Works with:

Corner Outreach staff, community members, current patients, potential patients and their parents.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Before events: pick up table items
    • Table runner/signage
    • Corner swag to hand out
    • Pamphlets or flyers with Corner information and programs
    • Check in with Outreach Manager to learn about new programs and upcoming events
  • Set up Corner table display as instructed by Outreach Manager
  • Represent the Corner in a positive and professional manner
  • Communicate effectively with Outreach Manager before and after event
  • Fill out a summary worksheet after event, including any recommended follow up
  • Answer questions about Corner or provide contact information to someone who can.
Qualifications:
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Have an appreciation for the Corner Health Center’s mission
  • Friendly and welcoming to community
  • Embraces IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Access) and greets all without judgment
  • Have strong verbal communication skills
  • Has the ability to work well as part of a team
  • Has a flexible schedule
  • Able to lift 25lbs
Training:
  • Volunteer orientation annually
  • 1 hour training with Outreach Manager annually that includes practice presentation
  • Shadow Outreach Manager at one or more community events
Dress Code:
  • Wear volunteer t-shirt during event, unless the event requires a different dress code.
  • Volunteer badge and nametag.
Additional Information:
  • Reimbursement for parking fees will be provided by the Corner (must present original receipt)
  • Mileage to and from event will not be reimbursed by the Corner
  • Purchased food will not be reimbursed by the Corner
  • Must abstain from alcoholic beverages if provided during event (even if 21 years of age)

Started in 1981, the Corner Health Center has been a cornerstone for health care among Washtenaw County youth.
