Position: Executive Assistant to The Director of the Cambridge Women's Center
Our Organization: The Cambridge Women’s Center is a 501(c)3 nonprofit serving 20-30 marginalized women a day. We are open 55 hours 6 days every week. We are a small community program with three full-time positions, over 130 volunteers, and eleven members of the Board of Trustees.
The Center provides a supportive community space for all women by offering opportunities for empowerment, learning, healing, trauma support, and understanding. We run three distinct programs: a drop-in program, allowing women access to our building and facilities, a helpline for emotional support and resource referrals, and group classes ranging from financial planning to yoga to trauma support groups. Our community space has access to a kitchen, computer lab, library, and more.
We are in an exciting period of growth and YOU could be a part of it!Position Summary: We are searching for a reliable, task-oriented Executive Assistant to support our team and our various projects. These projects include light research, data input, bringing the filing system up-to-date, upkeep of data, management of various email accounts and more. You will be responsible for performing a number of tasks benefiting the Women’s Center’s needs. Much of the work will include research and filing work for the upkeep of data, grants and maintaining the general functioning of a nonprofit.
We are searching for someone who is flexible and excited to learn about the work behind the scenes of a nonprofit. The ideal candidate is highly organized and proficient with data and filing. This is an excellent opportunity to serve marginalized women while gaining understanding of a nonprofit organization. The ideal candidate is pursuing a career in social justice, undergraduates and graduates encouraged to apply.
Time: Part-Time, begin end of September/early October 2019, 7-9 month minimal commitment, 10 hours per week, at least 5 hours between the hours of 10am-6pm Monday-Friday, other hours flexible, some remote work possible but not preferred
This is an unpaid internship, due to our limited financial constraints
Primary Duties:
- Support Director with various needed tasks
- Update online calendars with monthly events & programming promotion
- Research grants/foundations and networking events
- Evaluate and analyze data; write up reports with compelling narratives
- Update and organize resources for both members and volunteers
- Keep office space tidy
- Assist with moving office filing systems towards more efficient processes
- Help others with technological changes
- Uphold strict confidentiality
Skills and Qualifications:
- Maintain a friendly (but firm when necessary) demeanor
- Strong understanding of Microsoft Office suite and Google Drive
- Strong writing and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Data analysis and strong data skills
- Organizational skills
- Managing daily workload and prioritizing tasks; project management
- Able to multitask efficiently and meet deadlines
- Eager to collaborate with others to solve problems
- Creative, independent and collaborative problem solving skills
- Passion for social justice and equality
- Experience with nonprofits not required but beneficial
- Personal experiences/investment perspectives in social work appreciated; underrepresented women encouraged to apply

Description
The Women's Center is a community center for women - fighting for women's rights and against all forms of oppression. We provide space for the support, education and empowerment of all women. We offer a Drop-In Program for low-income women, a Helpline for emotional support and resource information, and a wide variety of ongoing groups and events, including yoga, sewing, beading, creative writing painting and drawing, trauma support group, English/Spanish conversation, 65+ Conversation, Self-Care, Incest Survivors group, and much more. We also offer a space for women and women-focused groups to meet, a kitchen stocked with nutritious food, and two Computer Labs for women to use and learn on.
