BELLEVUE ARTS MUSEUM MISSION
Bellevue Arts Museum provides a public forum for the community to contemplate, appreciate, and discuss visual culture. We work with audiences, artists, makers, and designers to understand our shared experience of the world.
DESCRIPTION
Bellevue Arts Museum is seeking an individual for an internship in the Curatorial Department to conduct research on and provide organizational support for the next BAM Biennial exhibition. Primary responsibilities will involve searching archives and the internet for information on architects, firms, artists, designers, and makers working in the architecture or urban design fields as well as guilds, schools, support organizations, cooperatives, design centers, and studios that promote and support artists working in these fields. The intern will be responsible for collecting, developing, and organizing web and mailing addresses on a spreadsheet and overseeing follow-up correspondence. Research will be conducted for each of the two (2) states the BAM Biennial covers: WA, OR, AK, MT, ID, and BC (Canada).
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct research for the next BAM Biennial exhibition, scheduled to open in fall 2021
- Research archives and internet for information on artists, designers, and makers working in architecture and urban design across the states of Washington, Oregon, Montana, Idaho, Alaska and British Columbia (Canada)
- Refine the search, collect information, and organize search findings using MS Excel
- Maintain accurate records on server and in database
- Work closely with the exhibition curator and BAM’s Curatorial Department
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
- Organized with attention to detail
- Ability to study and research exhibitions
- Demonstrated interest in curatorial affairs and passion for visual culture
- Proficiency in Microsoft Offiuce Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Self-starter, motivated, and able to work independently
- Degree or student pursuing degree in the Visual Arts, Architecture, or related field
