Our residents love animals! If you have a gentle dog who loves people and other pets, we need you!
No certification required, just a gentle dog who is able to:
-Walk calmly on a leash (no pulling)
-Perform basic commands (sit/down)
-Approach people for petting without jumping
-Take treats nicely from hands without nipping/biting
-Be comfortable/calm in unfamiliar surroundings-including walking on slick floors, entering/exiting elevators, and comfortable around unfamiliar assistive devices (wheelchairs, walkers, oxygen)
-Accept having its ears/feet/mouth touched/petted by strangers
-Be accepting of the presence of other dogs
-Willing to engage with strangers in a calm manner
Please note that chain/choke/prong collars are not permitted while the dog is visiting the community. These pose a hazard to our residents.

Situated on 19 picturesque acres in southeast Denver, the Eastern Star Masonic Retirement Campus offers patio home living for those who are still independent, assisted living for those who need a little more help, and memory care for individuals who need a secured environment. As one of the leading retirement homes in Colorado we are a well-recognized and respected community for senior living services. Our community is open to all Seniors-no Masonic affiliation required.

- Background Check
- Must be at least 18
- Any time provided is much appreciated, however ideally volunteers would be willing to commit long-term (3mo+) to the residents as relationships will be built and residents will look forward to the visits!
- Background check, drug screen, and TB test required of volunteer (at no cost to volunteer) after initial meet & greet/tour of community. Volunteers must also be willing to accept the seasonal flu vaccination (facility pays). Current proof of rabies.
