Tuck-In Call Volunteer!
ORGANIZATION: VNA Hospice NWI
Please visit the new page to apply.
VNA Hospice of NWI is looking for volunteers interested in a weekly opportunity, on Thursday mornings to make "tuck-in" calls to our patients and/or families at home. The purpose of these tuck-in calls is to determine if our patients and/or family members have any current or future needs going in to the weekend, so that our staff can address them as soon as possible. Training is provided to make sure you are comfortable before making your first call as well as a script of what types of questions to ask the patient or family member. Interested volunteers should be organized, thorough, comfortable making phone calls and available weekly on Thursday mornings for 2-3 hours. Volunteers are asked to complete our background check process, TB tests, and training program both online and in person. If you are interested in this opportunity, please reach out to our Volunteer Services Coordinator Erica Kerkes at ekerkes@vnanwi.org or 219.462.5195.

Mission Statement
To be the foremost patient focused provider of aging hospice, palliative, and grief support in Northwest Indiana.
Description
The Visiting Nurse Association of Porter County is a not for profit organization committed to providing the highest quality of care to persons in the community. In 1970, nurses from Porter Memorial Hospital in Valparaiso, Indiana, voiced their concerns about patients who were discharged but still needed medical care. In answer to their plea, the Visiting Nurse Association was founded in September, 1970 to become the first home health care agency in Porter County, offering nursing and physical therapy. Over the years, the VNA has responded to the changing needs of the community by adding services including speech and occupational therapy, home health aide services, nutritional counseling, medical social services and hospice. Today the VNA continues to provide home and inpatient hospice care, VNA Meals on Wheels, Medical Guardian help button, and children's grief support at the VNA Phoenix Center.
