Northwest Harvest’s SODO Community Market is a no-cost grocery, offering guests a dignified shopping experience focused on hospitality, customer service and community connections.
Our orientations give an overview of the market community and culture, volunteer roles and day-to-day tasks and the big picture work of Northwest Harvest in food justice and cutting hunger in Washington state. Orientations include a tour of the market and plenty of time for questions.

Northwest Harvest is Washington's own statewide hunger relief agency. The mission of Northwest Harvest is leading the fight for hungry people statewide to have access to nutritious food while respecting their dignity and promoting good health. Our vision is ending hunger in Washington.
Description
Northwest Harvest collects and distributes food to more than 375 independent food banks, hot meal programs, and high need schools across Washington State without proof of need. We provide over 2 million meals every month to individuals and families in need. We also run one food bank of our own, the Cherry Street Food Bank in Seattle.
Northwest Harvest is unable to provide court-related community service.

- Must be at least 9
- Orientation or Training
- The minimum age for volunteering is 9 years of age. Youth between 9-15 years of age must have a parent or guardian volunteer alongside them. Youth 16-17 may volunteer on their own with a permission formed signed by a parent or guardian.
- We can provide hours confirmation for work or school. We do not provide court-related service.
