The West End Museum is a nonprofit neighborhood museum located next to North Station in Downtown Boston. The museum has permanent and rotating exhibits which change often. Graphic design is an important component of an exhibit presentation, as well as related promotional materials. You will be visually introducing the exhibit to the public with postcards and posters, or you will be finalizing aspects of the exhibit layout. The position does not involve a significant number of hours, but it is a focused result driven commitment...
Time Commitment:
2-3 hours one day per week at the museum and negotiated project based work at home(volunteer position)
Candidates Should:
- Be a creative problem solver
- Be able to express creative ideas
- Be able to brain-storm in a small group setting
- Have your own laptop with Adobe Suite or comparable program
- Be punctual in meeting deadlines
- Identifies commitment hours and scope of work
- Be forthright in conveying design difficulties
- Communicate in a timely manner with the curator
Skills:
- Graphic design background
- Photoshop, Indesign, or comparable graphic editing suite
- Good sense of layout
- Storyboard and drawing skills a plus
- Creative designer a plus

About the West End Museum:
We are a Boston neighborhood museum seeking volunteers interested in the history and culture of the City of Boston, its immigrant era, and urban renewal. The Museum is a 501(c)3 charitable non-profit organization dedicated to the collection, preservation, and interpretation of the history and culture of the West End of Boston.
You can expect to find a casual workplace of friendly Volunteers and Staff who are welcoming and eager to engage with the public. A previous knowledge of the neighborhood is not required, but an appreciation of its historical significance is helpful.
The Museum is conveniently located close to the MBTA Science Park/West End Station and North Station. Bowdoin Station is about a 10-minute walk.
