The Prospect Research Analyst position reports to the Director of Advancement Services and the Chief Development Officer. The Prospect Research Analyst will compile and write donor profiles, calculate and assign capacity ratings, analyze data to influence informed decision making on prospect cultivation and solicitation strategies, identify and qualify new prospects for potential addition to the prospect pool and individual gift officer portfolios, monitor available sources to ensure up-to-date and comprehensive prospect information, and assist with all aspects of tracking and managing prospect information in a dynamic and evolving department.

The ideal candidate must be highly organized, able to manage and complete multiple tasks and assignments and be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing with a high degree of professionalism and collegiality. Must demonstrate qualities of initiative, organization, and teamwork.


Specific Responsibilities:

  • Provide research support to CDO, annual giving, and planned gift officers, as well as colleagues within corporations and foundations and member engagement, including researching and writing donor and prospective donor profiles and qualifying notes.
  • Analyze data, representing and combining capacity with propensity to inform prospect strategy development and related outreach.
  • Manage influx of daily news alerts, financial alerts, and obituary alerts, as well as other routine prospecting activities.
  • Maintain Salesforce database and integrate wealth screening and predictive modeling results as needed.
  • Conduct routine address/phone number searches, obituary updates, and other augmentation of biographical data in support of both development and member engagement programs and projects.
  • Support prospect tracking and management processes through data entry in and reporting from the database platform.
  • Produce prospect and donor briefing materials for specific development and engagement events and activities in a timely fashion.

Qualifications:

  • BA or BS degree required with preferences for degrees in research, library science, history, business, writing, communications, or related fields-and one to three years of experience in prospect research, research, or a development operation preferred.
  • Strong computer skills and fluency in MS Excel required; experience with development and CRM databases such as Salesforce and Raiser’s Edge preferred.
  • Familiarity with Internet research tools and techniques
  • Effective communicator, self-motivated, results-driven, flexible, and able to work well both independently and in a team setting.
  • Strong analytical and editing skills essential.
  • Commitment to the values of collaboration and shared success.
  • Affinity for the core mission and strategic vision of HHP.
