The Diabetes Foundation assists children, teens and adults living with type 1, type 2, gestational and prediabetes to overcome the associated financial, physical and emotional challenges. Event volunteers provide crucial support at Diabetes Foundation fundraising events, including our annual gala and annual golf classic, as well as health fairs, community gatherings. Assist as little or as many hours as your schedule provides, but commitment the day of the activity is for a minimum of several hours. Comprehensive training is provided to ensure volunteer effectiveness.

REPORTS TO: Director of Operations, Program Director, Program Manager

RESPONSIBILITIES (allocated among several volunteers per event; each volunteer will perform one or more of the below):

• At fundraising events, serve as greeter, behind registration desk, staff auction table and more
• Assist with event set-up, including flowers, tables, auction preliminaries and more
• Recruit items for silent auction and tricky tray events
• Attend health and wellness fairs at community, government and corporate locations to promote diabetes awareness, prevention and management

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

• Energetic, empathetic personality
• Excellent communications skills
• Strong organizational skills
• Familiarity with diabetes - either through personal experience or medical training - helpful, but not required
