ORGANIZATION: Federal Way Public Schools AmeriCorps

Our position is a 10.5 month National Service assignment. This is the perfect opportunity for those pursuing a gap year! Our team at Federal Way Public Schools AmeriCorps serves full time. We are looking for coaches to facilitate students in classroom groups as we follow the strategies of AVID. As you track student progress you will determine best methods of support for each student. As the school year progresses you will provide life after high school support by assisting students in finding the educational path they'd like to pursue. We'll do some work supporting FAFSA and college application support for our high school students. For those serving at a middle school - we will take time to build the skill of inquiry and begin the conversation for pursuing a career path. Because AVID builds skill in inquiry and confidence, students are able to pinpoint where they are struggling to find answers. The data you collect to monitor student progress will help scholars set and achieve goals. No experience is required. We fully train you during Orientation. We support you by engaging in regular team meetings, consistent feedback and goal-setting and professional development. In addition, we will partner with the City of Federal Way to take part in city beautification projects at the city's parks. Federal Way is an incredibly diverse community in pursuit of equitable spaces for all students.
