The purpose of this position is to perform emergency management readiness and capacity building activities across all phases of Disaster Cycle Services (Preparedness, Response, Recovery) for the purpose of enabling effective service delivery during a response.
Key Responsibilities:
Emergency Management collaborates with partners to develop strategies to enable an effective and efficient community response during a disaster while adhering to the principles of the Red Cross.
This position is responsible for the tasks involved in the Emergency Management function:
- Support the annual DSC regional goals, RDO objectives, and regional/chapter plan for a community response by building and maintaining relationships through collaboration and facilitating communication with partners, coordinating projects, and participating in local response activities
- Projects and local response activities will be assigned according to the activities you are training in: Community Partnerships and/or Emergency Management.
- Projects may include tasks such as conducting meeting with partners to build relationships, planning and participating in exercises with partners, or assisting with community response planning.

Ability to:
- follow and implement requests received from supervisor with little or no supervision.
- adapt to change, negotiate compromise and tolerate ambiguity.
- build effective relationships with others who can help with work-related goals.
- be sensitive in human interactions to diversity inclusiveness.
- use facilitative leadership and collaboration techniques to build and manage relationships
- use computer systems such as: Word, Powerpoint, Excel
Time Commitment:
- Approximately 20 hours per month during steady state (no disasters)
