Volunteers are needed in 4-hour shifts at the special admissions centers located at pedestrian gates at the fairgrounds.
Volunteer groups of 2 - 4 adults are invited to greet members of the military and their families, welcome them to the State Fair of Texas and issue vouchers to them valid for free admission that day.
Volunteers will also distribute a commemorative button to the military families in recognition of their sacrifice and service.
Special admission centers are 10’ x 10’ canopy tents, providing shade with 4 chairs and a table. Water and snacks are provided to volunteers. Free, close in parking is reserved for the volunteers and each receives a complimentary fair admission ticket to use on any day of the 2019 fair.

The State Fair of Texas celebrates all things Texan by promoting agriculture, education and community involvement through quality entertainment in a family-friendly setting.
Description
In its 133rd year, the State Fair of Texas runs from September 27 - October 20, 2019. Volunteer opportunities include Military Appreciation Day (Sept 27) and the Youth Livestock Committee for the run of the fair. Additionally, our development campaigns offer year-round opportunities for volunteers to serve on our fundraising events: Big Tex Clay Shoot Classic, Big Tex Golf Classic, Big Tex Champion Club, Big Tex Barn Dance Social and Youth Livestock Auction Day!
100% of all proceeds from the Fair's development initiatives go to support youth in the Fair Park community and across the State. We currently support 501 Big Tex Scholars all of whom attend Texas colleges and universities.
