Our mission is to develop young people's leadership skills through our dynamic leadership process; to inspire a sense of adventure through meaningful service-learning opportunities in the local community, and to create a community for young people to live out their discovered skills and passions. Position Description:

Reporting to the Program Director, Summit Guide (SG) will be responsible for the operational success of their selected student chapter. As a CYL Summit Guide, you will be responsible for coordinating and guiding high school students through the CYL Summit Program and engaging them in CYL service activities.

You will work with high school students to explore leadership and service. You will facilitate Leadership Exploration Meetings using the provided CYL Leadership Curriculum, plan and lead Service Adventures and build relationships with students in order to increase their engagement in CYL activities. Each Chapter has a goal of 25 consistent students, and you will have the opportunity to work with a CYL Staff to recruit new students and welcome them into your CYL Chapter.

Each Chapter is comprised of students from various backgrounds and experiences. Summit Guides are the main student contact points for CYL, and you have the flexibility to develop your Chapter(s) to meet the needs of your student personalities. Your ultimate task is to create a safe community where high school students can explore their passions for leadership and service.

Responsibilities

  • Attend annual Summit Guide Retreat (don’t worry, it’s fun and we feed you!)
  • Facilitate two Leadership Exploration Meeting per month
  • Lead or attend at least five Service Adventures per year (flexible)
  • Identify Individual Volunteer Opportunities for students in your geographic area
  • Maintain consistent communication with students and Program Director
  • Assist in recruiting and cultivating new CYL chapter members

Specific Weekly Activities:

  • Check CYL email 2 times/week (at least)
  • Answer student emails within 3 days
  • Answer student texts within 1 day (even if to just say you’ll follow up at a later time)
  • Answer student voicemails within 1 day, or ask Program Director to follow up if you do not have time

Stipend

$200/month
