We are seeking tutors for our After School Homework Tutoring Program. Tutors will assist English Language Learners (ESL or ELL) students in grades 6-8 or grades 9-12 with homework, test preparation, and help students develop good study habits, academic skills and knowledge. Tutors will also help students practice English. Each tutor will work with 5-6 students each shift. We are seeking tutors with strong personal academic records and enthusiasm and passion for teaching!
Responsibilities:
-Provide homework help/check, explain concepts, and assist with test prep
-Provide English practice and lessons to students
-Help maintain student progress records
Qualifications:
-Must have a strong personal academic record
-Comfortable teaching in spoken Cantonese or Mandarin Chinese
-Experience working with youth in 12-18 age group preferred
-Organized, reliable, punctual, self-motivated and team player
-Excellent communication skills
Both in-person and remote (online) tutoring shifts are available Mondays-Fridays 3-7p and Saturdays 10a-1p. Tutors must be able to commit to working at least two shift per week through the end of the academic school year (6/16/21).
