As a new-ish hospice, our volunteer program was hit hard by 2020 CDC guidelines. Our patients and families have missed the benefits of volunteers and it is time to get back to being able to support our families with the generosity that a thriving volunteer program can contribute. The quality of life of our patients and families is greatly enhanced with the help of volunteers. Infection control precautions are in place as they have always been. It is our mission to ensure you and our patients and families remain as healthy as possible. Volunteers will be taught protocals while also having the flexibility to do what is most comfortable for you as we all reemerge after the pandemic.
There are many ways to volunteer with Votive Hospice. Whether you would like to spend time with patients and families in their home, in a facility, work in the office directly with the team or work from home; the opportunities really are limitless. We appreciate and welcome any ideas and/or talents that you would like to bring to the team, patients and families that Votive Hospice serves.
Baking, sewing, crafts, gifts, birthday celebrations, baking, music, letter writing, running errands, assisting with gardening, lite house keeping or just spending time with a patient while thier loved ones take a break are just a few thoughts on what can be done. Often the most valuable thing a volunteer can do for a patient and/or their family is to be available to listen and offer precious time.
We are a part of the We Honor Veterans Organization and are seeking those interested in working specifically with this amazing population. Please let us know if you are a Veteran yourself and/or if you have a passion for giving back to our service men and women that have given so much for us.
Volunteers are invaluable and crucial to hospice organizations. We welcome those who want to serve others by giving the gift of time; on your schedule. The rest will work itself out.

Votive Hospice is founded and led by Fredericksburg natives whom possess over a half century of service to the elderly. Votive established, 2017 is a family owned Hospice. We care for individuals with life limiting illness. With focus on helping one family at a time, it is our goal to maintain optimal comfort for our patient's and their families. We strive to enhance quality of life. If pain and symptoms are managed; patients and families can receive the gift of quality time before their loved one embarks on the unique and individualized journey to the other side of this life.

- Initial training will take a day together or can be done online, whatever works best for you. Training is ongoing and will continue throughout your stay working with Votive Hospice. We ask for a commitment of few hours a month to remain active.
- If you have had a recent loss we welcome you. It may be difficult to see patients right away and will encourage you to give yourself time . Come join us in the many other areas and when/if you are ready, we can venture that process together.
