The role of the VNSNY Hospice Care Volunteer is that of a professional friendly visitor, providing a supportive, caring presence for patients, caregivers and families. Our goal is to provide comfort, care and compassion to our patients and their families during what is often a difficult time. Some of the ways that volunteers help, include: visiting to ease social isolation, providing companionship & socialization, being an active listener, reading, listening to music, playing games, helping with organizational projects and more.
Volunteers with special skills, such as singing, playing an instrument, massage, cosmetology, hairstyling and multi-lingual skills are also needed.
