Canyon Strike Team: every Thursday morning, 9am. This is an ongoing volunteer event run by the City of San Diego Open Space Division Rangers. This event was designed for volunteers to address some of the most pressing needs of our open space canyons. Locations and tasks will vary from week to week. Activities may include invasive plant & trash removal, watering, trail maintenance, and other special projects to help preserve and enhance City of San Diego Open Space Canyons and parklands.
Please Note: All volunteers must be at least 18 years old and complete a Liability Waiver onsite prior to volunteering. Volunteers can expect a physically demanding morning, consisting of long hikes on uneven/steep terrain and heavy lifting in direct sunlight.
Volunteers must email Ranger Tiffany Swiderski no later than noon the day before the event to receive event details.
*NO BATHROOMS ON SITE*
Additional Project Information: Event begins promptly at 9am. Tools and gloves are provided. Please wear closed-toed shoes, long pants, and sun protection (a hat, sunscreen, etc). We recommend bringing at least 32 oz of drinking water.

San Diego's Park and Recreation Department is responsible for overseeing nearly 40,000 acres of developed and undeveloped open space, more than 340 parks including Balboa Park, Mission Trails Regional Park, and Mission Bay Park; 25 miles of shoreline from Sunset Cliffs to La Jolla; 13 pools; 3 public golf complexes; 56 recreation centers and more. Park and recreation professionals and volunteers host hundreds of community events each year and provide safe places for thousands of children to go after school. City employees and volunteers take great pride to enrich the lives of others through quality parks and programs, designed and developed so that people of all ages, abilities and income levels have the chance to participate in excellent recreational opportunities.
