The Residential Service and Crisis Hotline Volunteer is responsible for providing support and advocacy to victims of domestic violence and their children in the assigned emergency shelter, including assisting shelter residents with daily living needs, providing emergency advocacy services to survivors calling our 24-hour crisis hotline, and providing general shelter-based support.
The Residential Advocate also documents services provided to clients through the client records database, prepares rooms for new residents, conduct house checks, and attends supervision and team meetings, and other duties as assigned by the volunteer coordinator.

  • Background Check
  • Must be at least 18
  • Orientation or Training
  • There is no time commitment required; however, a commitment of at least 6 months is preferred. Scheduled times vary for this volunteer position and may include daytime, evening, and weekend hours as needed.
  • Orientation and direct services training. Volunteers are encouraged to participate in staff meetings, which occur every week at our emergency shelter location. Volunteers are required to attend quarterly meetings of volunteer staff.
