Mission Statement

Centered on Christ - Sharing God's Love - For the Community

Description

We are a Presbyterian Church (USA) congregation that seeks to emphasize God's love for all people. We have been serving the communities of Fairview, Gresham, Wood Village, and Troutdale since 1890. Plus, we have a few members who live in Sandy and Portland.

Our 2020 Vision Statement is the following:

We believe that God desires for Smith Memorial Presbyterian Church to continue the many meaningful ministries that we already have that glorify God, build Christian community, encourage discipleship, and reach out to human needs. But there are some gaps in our ministry. So, we also feel that God is encouraging us to make an extra effort in the next few years to be a church:

  • Where children and young people love to be here, and where they are blessed by our commitment to reach out to them and support them in their Christian journey.
  • Where mature and older Christians, who are still being fed in their faith, also work hand in hand with developing Christians.
  • Where our buildings are used in service to the community multiple days a week, and we have built strong relationships with the people who come.
  • Where multiple platforms of engagement are offered so that people of all ages can make friends and form caring Christian relationships.
