Do you have an elderly family member, friend, or neighbor who loves to share his/her time and memories? Do you enjoy listening and seeing the smile on his/her face? Then share your gift of time with a patient on his/her end-of-life journey. No special skills are necessary, just that same listening ear, a smile, and an open heart. It will be some of the most rewarding time you'll ever spend! Elara Caring is currently looking for compassionate volunteers willing to donate their time to provide exceptional end-of-life care to local hospice patients and their families. Our volunteer will provide companionship, play cards/games, watch old movies, etc. There is no physical care involved. Hours are flexible according to your schedule - weekdays, evenings or weekends. All we ask is for you to visit your assigned patient 1-2 hours per week. This opportunity also comes with three advantages for you: 1) volunteer time may be used toward your high school requirements; 2) a great chance to see the reality of life if you are planning a medical career: and 3) volunteer time looks very appealing on your college resume.
