CFFAD is seeking a experienced, talented giving officer. You would play a central role in researching potential donors, soliciting donations, making grant proposals, organizing fundraising proposals and events, volunteering at fundraising events, using web platforms and more.
Work closely with the President, Directors, and other volunteers to develop and implement a fundraising plan for the organization which will achieve the goals for sustainable funding, the development of projects, and delivery of core operations;
Lead efforts to cultivate a substantial and diverse base of donors and maximize donor retention;
Lead initiatives to communicate with donors through multiple channels, cultivate donor relationships, and solicit donations; and,
Collaborate with the President, Directors and other volunteers to create presentations for potential donors.

At least two years of prior experience with fundraising campaigns and/or soliciting donations in one or more of the following area(s): nonprofit fundraising, grant writing, nonprofit management, strategy, or operations;
Demonstrated fundraising ability. You are comfortable soliciting donations, reaching out to grant managers and foundations for information, and drafting letters of inquiry;
Proven relationship-building skills;
Integrity and credibility; and
Initiative, flexibility, and dedication.
Familiarity with IRS and state laws governing charitable solicitation and giving.
B.A. or better in Business, Communications, Fundraising, Philanthropy or similar field;
Experience in organizing and contributing to events; and
Prior experience in writing, marketing, or delivering materials for civic education.
Familiarity with donor relations management and tracking software;
Grant research and proposal writing; and,
Donor research and management;
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills;
Requirements & Commitment
Willingness and ability to prioritize the mission of CFFAD;
Strong commitment to non-partisan behavior while assisting or representing CFFAD;
Willingness to work with and rely upon other volunteers from diverse backgrounds;
Ability to attend initial orientation or training; and,
Willingness to remotely volunteer 5-15 hours per week via email and other forms of electronic communication.

We are all about civic education for ages 18 and up. We help people understand (1) what it takes for a democracy to work well, and (2) how to live it, protect it, and improve it.
Our primary mission is to provide civic education to adults ages 18 and up. To that end, we have already published many short courses that hundreds of people have already accessed. A specially tailored version of one of our course appears on the Ballotpedia website. We will continue building our audience and expanding our materials.
