Mission Statement

Since 1900, the Humane Society for Greater Nashua (HSFN) has been a place of hope, healing and second chances. We are a private 501(c)(3) nonprofit serving pets and people across the New England region. Each year, our team of 25 staff members and many dedicated volunteers care for nearly 3,000 animals who rely on us for safety, health or a fresh start. Our services include: Canine, feline, and small animal adoptions. Affordable veterinary and dental services, including spay/neuter and vaccination clinics. Low-cost end-of-life services. Behavior training and pet retention support. Pet burials in our historic on-site pet cemetery. Youth education programs and year-round fundraising. We are guided by a volunteer Board of Trustees that provides leadership and oversight as we grow and serve the community.

Description

Who We Are

The Humane Society for Greater Nashua has been part of the city’s fabric for more than a century. We are a small but committed shelter with a big impact. Our staff and volunteers work together to make every animal’s journey one of care, dignity and compassion.

In January 2025, we began a major expansion of our shelter and veterinary clinic to modernize our facilities and meet growing community needs. This project will allow us to offer more services, help more animals and deepen our impact across the region. It’s a transformative moment for HSFN, and we’re excited to welcome more people into our mission. Now is the perfect time to get involved.

Volunteer With Us

Volunteers are the heart of HSFN. Whether you're walking dogs, cleaning kennels, caring for cats and small animals, lending a hand at events, serving on our education committee, or helping behind the scenes, your time and energy directly improve the lives of the animals in our care and the people who love them.

Supporting our mission isn’t just about donations, it’s about showing up. With our exciting expansion underway, we need even more compassionate, committed volunteers to help us write the next chapter.
