Mission Statement

Chicago URBAN ART RETREAT Center (CUARC) provides rooms for women. CUARC also provides safe space for people who are different from each other to enjoy & learn from each other. CUARC celebrates multiculturalism, diversity, and non-violence. We provide opportunities for people to learn about and practice peace. Description

In addition to a women's residence on the second floor, we offer an art gallery for under-represented artists, and art studio for non-artists. CUARC offers a variety of programs geared to the under represented and to educate the public about under represented populations. At our own site and at sites of other non-profits, CUARC programs include: art workshops & classes for non-artists, support & education for entrepreneurs, art shows by under represented people (people with mental illnesses, people of color, non-artists, survivors of trauma, immigrants, lesbians, gays, & seniors). Social opps. for people who are different from each other to attend, enjoy each other, and learn from each other are offered monthly. Non-violence and tolerance is encouraged at all activities.
