The mission of the American Red Cross is to prevent and alleviate human suffering during times of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors.
The role of Feeding Team is to serve as a temporary work unit on a disaster relief operation to successfully complete their assigned areas of responsibility on a disaster relief operation. They ensure food safety and proper food service in a variety of work locations while supervising workers throughout the cycle of the disaster.
During a response, shifts are 8-12 hours/day for as many days as the volunteer is available.
Volunteers will have an opportunity to be certified to drive the Red Cross Emergency Response Vehicle, but that is not required for this role.
Once fully trained, volunteers in this role are eligible for deployments to national disasters as needed.
