Volunteer Title: Afterschool Program Assistant

Department: Children’s Education

Reports To: Education Associate/Director of Children’s Education

Summary: Come and assist students with homework or help teachers with enrichment activities

Key Duties:

  • Assist with homework, tutoring, and educational activities
  • Help with snack/meal supervision, serving and clean up
  • Supervise students attending the program and promote safety and respect in collaboration with AmeriCorps staff
  • Respond to the needs of students and establish stable and consistent relationships
  • Cleaning and tidying of the center (classrooms, gym, etc.)

Qualifications: Age 14+, self-motivated, ability to work well with children, friendly, willing to go above and beyond to help, able to abide by directions well

Time Commitment: Monday - Thursday 3:00PM - 6:00PM

September - December and January - May

Must volunteer at least 4 shifts every month during semester

Training: MinistrySafe Training, Standard Volunteer Orientation

Wesley Rankin Community Center encourages education and community fellowship by offering a wide variety of programs for all ages. We offer GED/Parenting classes, computer literacy classes for adults, Elementary and Youth After-School programs, a Senior Citizen Program, and much more.

We know community transformation takes place when we are able to open our hearts to the fact that we all have something to teach and learn. At this Center of Community, we welcome diversity, sharing, and the common work for equity.
