Campus Compact of the Mountain West
Campus Compact of the Mountain West (CCMW) is a membership organization that engages college and
university presidents throughout Colorado and Wyoming as part of a national coalition of more than
1100 colleges and universities across the country. These institutions are passionately committed to the
value service learning and civic engagement brings to higher education and the community. We connect
student needs to community needs by empowering students to get involved in social issues where they
can make a difference - not only in the lives of others, but also in their own growth as students and
citizens of the world.

K2H Civic Futures AmeriCorps Program
The K2H Civic Futures AmeriCorps Program focuses on civic learning and engagement opportunities and
skill development for kindergarten through higher education (K-H) students. In addition, the K2H
program strengthens partnership pipelines between K-12 systems and higher education systems that
create continuity for civic learning and engagement initiatives as students transition from K-12 to higher
education.

Student Leadership, Involvement, & Community Engagement (SLiCE) Office
The Office of Student Leadership, Involvement & Community Engagement (SLiCE) strives to transform
students to transform the world. The office mission is to maximize student potential through high
quality, innovative programs and services. The SLiCE office offers a broad range of programs and
services for Colorado State University students, faculty, staff and the community in the areas of
leadership development, student involvement, and service and volunteer programs. Through the
programs at SLiCE, students find both support and resources to graduate as engaged, active participants
and leaders in their local, national and global communities.

AmeriCorps Member Benefits
K2H Liaison (full-time, 1700 hours over one year service term, approximately 35 hours per week)
* Living stipend of $13,750 over the course of one year of service
* Education award commensurate with the Pell Grant (~$6,000) to be used for current
educational expenses, to repay qualified student loans, or to be used within 7 years for
educational expenses
* Child care credit for eligible members
* Deferment of existing student loans during the K2H term of service
* Repayment of interest accrued on qualified student loans during the K2H term of service

* Hands-on experience in the field of K-12 education, higher education, civic learning and
engagement, community development, and youth development

Roles & Responsibilities
1) K-H Partnership Development
* Work with host site and program partners to assess the capacity of partners to support
ongoing civic learning and engagement programs with students
* Complete a pre- and post-assessment of each organizational partner using the CNCS
Organizational Capacity Building Assessment
* Create an implementation plan for civic learning and engagement programming at new host
sites, or at existing host sites where direct programming is not currently being provided
* Develop sustainability plans for K-H partnerships that support ongoing civic learning and
engagement initiatives beyond grant funding

2) Community Mapping & Outreach
* Map the local community, identifying partnership opportunities for student learning,
engagement, and volunteerism
* Connect community organizations with K-H partners
* Assist with assessment for the Civic Health & Equity Initiative at higher education host sites
* Recruit and manage community volunteers supporting the K2H Civic Futures program

3) Team Development & Reporting
* Meet bi-monthly with K2H AmeriCorps Members for training and reflection
* Attend required training and development opportunities provided through CCMW and
through the host site
* Complete all monthly time reporting, data collection, and progress reporting required by
CCMW and CNCS

4) Site-Specific Responsibilities
* The Liaison will work primarily with the Public Achievement (PA) and President’s Leadership
Program (PLP) programs. This position is responsible for assisting in the training and
development of PA coaches, assisting in the creation and facilitation of PA teacher training,
and organizing and providing feedback to PA coaches on teaching and classroom
management. This position will develop and maintain records related to student progress
and grades, submit appropriate student progress reports to the Program Coordinator for
Leadership Networking.
* The Liaison will also work with the SLiCE Leadership Development team engaging in research
and development for leadership education, ensuring that curriculum and facilitation for all
of SLiCE’s leadership programs are current and relevant to today’s leadership expectations
and needs. The position reports to the SLiCE Assistant Director for Curricular Leadership
AND the Program Coordinator for Leadership Networking.

* The Liaison will serve as a role model of professionalism by being organized and able to
work well under pressure with multiple and consistently changing deadlines, as well as have
excellent communication and administrative skills.
* The Liaison will have an abiding concern for, and commitment to, serving the diverse needs
of the university community, active promotion of an inclusive environment, and supporting
the Lory Student Center as the focal point of campus life.
* Significant contributions include program and service execution, personnel management,
event planning, aligning program/service delivery with intended learning outcomes,
facilitation and instruction, and the development of sustainable partnerships internal and
external to Colorado State University.
