The intern would be managing the hydroponic and aquaponic research systems at Firebird Farm, and collecting harvest/pest/damage data on the tomatoes and strawberries growing in the systems. This position is located exclusively at the UDC Firebird Farm in Beltsville, MD, requires a car, and requires Mon/Wed/Fri availability. It also requires a person who is comfortable working with insects, dirt, water, and in high heat environments. The position is paid monthly as a stipend. For those who are not UDC students, the monthly pay is dependent upon completing a free 15 hour extension course (we will also consider a long-term unpaid volunteer who prefers not to take a course). No experience necessary, but data collection experience, soil-less growing experience, and farm experience are preferred.
