Program Description: Story Hour is a weekly program to expose students aged 0-5 to books and literacy activities. Each Wednesday afternoon, a team of volunteers leads the children through supervised play, group reading, short activities/songs, and 1-1 reading.

Volunteer Need: A volunteer is needed for the following weekly service:

• Selecting a theme for each week’s story hour
• Choosing age appropriate books related to the theme from the local library
• Dropping the books off to APAH by 6PM the Tuesday before each session.

If books are obtained at an Arlington library, APAH’s resident services team will return the books for you by the Friday following the story hour session. We promise!

You can plan to check out the themed books on the weekend (check your local library hours!), then just make time for a quick book drop off at APAH by 6PM the following Tuesday.

Guidance on selecting themes will be provided if needed.

The children’s librarians at your nearby library will happily help you choose age-appropriate books based on your theme!
