Janmastami is the name of our biggest festival of the year. It is a celebration of the birth of Lord Krishna. This year we will celebrate it on Friday August 23.
During the festival we distribute free meals for all visitors and we anticipate around 1,500 visitors. We need a lot of help with cooking as well as serving the meals. Cooking takes place on the evening before the festival - Thursday the 22nd of August as well as during the day on the 23rd of August. - Volunteers will be asked to help cut vegetables and wash pots as part of the cooking service. Serving of meals will take place from 7pm on the 23rd.
The festival timing is from around 6pm to midnight on the 23rd. In addition to help needed with cooking and serving meals, we also need help with our book table, cleaning outside during and after the event, guiding visitors into parking spots, and more.
This is a unique opportunity to be a part of a spiritual festival from India that is held all around the world and to enjoy the various performances and vegetarian cuisine that will be offered. By serving at this event, volunteers also receive tremendous spiritual benefit.
