About ROCKY MOUNTAIN WELCOME CENTER

Location:

Mission Statement

The Rocky Mountain Welcome Center (RMWC) is an immigrant-led, community-based 501C3 established with the mission of fostering community connections, cultural understanding, and personal relationships between immigrants, refugees, and Colorado residents. We build welcoming communities in Colorado by connecting community resources like public health, access to funding opportunities, education and other services with harder to reach immigrant and refugee communities. We equally serve as a bridge to newcomer communities by providing culturally appropriate navigation services. Both direct services and community advocacy strategies are engaged to welcome newcomers to our community and connect them to resources they need. Our services are developed to address community integration by providing access to community resources and advocating for equitable service provisions to immigrant and refugee (I/R) communities that are culturally appropriate and linguistically relevant.

Description

The Rocky Mountain Welcome Center supports immigrants and refugees in their journeys of integration through supportive educational programs, promoting intercultural understanding and the development of relations with that community. Like the Buell Foundation, RMWC seeks to help all immigrants and refugees in our community reach their highest potential. RMWC partners with people and organizations representing more than 15 immigrant and refugee communities across the Front Range that are working to make positive changes in the lives of their families and communities. RMWC works side-by-side with these communities to address issues and concerns related to successful and healthy lives in Colorado.

RMWC’s focus on community navigation and integration is an intentional way to offer programming that builds communities of support for immigrant and refugee families that are establishing new lives in a new community with new rules and few rulebooks. With all programs, RMWC seeks to provide educational and navigation programs that increase social networks, economic mobility, or educational opportunities for newcomers. There are few places in Colorado for immigrants without refugee status to go to ask questions, connect with culturally appropriate resources or receive referrals for services. Rocky Mountain Welcome Center intends to fill that void.
