Job brief:
We are looking for a knowledgeable, thorough Agronomist who can Volunteer in developing better farming practices and find effective solutions for small scale farming to increase self sustainability to a residential school with maximum capacity of 220 people to be located in Haiti. The Agronomist will conduct research on best practices based on advanced technology used in Holland.
When onboarding your first assignment will be to start a fundraising campaign. Haiti Now will provide further guidance for you to have a quick and successful fundraiser.
Responsibilities:
- Study dietary habits in Haiti and ideal nutritional intake for girls 6 to 18
- Develop a list of target crops
- Researching and developing a strategy using farming best practices in Holland
- Promoting products and techniques through educational presentations.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Agriculture, or a related field.
- More education and experience may be preferred.
- Awareness of industry trends, Dutch technology, and developments is a major plus.
- Must volunteer 5 hours/week
- Proficiency with computers, especially Google suite.
- Strong research, decision making, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
