At Advantage Health Systems Hospice, we honor our Active Duty and Veteran's. We recognize the skills, experiences and compassion that Veterans and Active Duty volunteers have to offer our Veteran patients and their loved ones across San Diego County.
Our Veteran patients feel more connected to volunteers with military background, or involvement, because of their special bond forged through service to our Nation. Volunteers have an opportunity to take part in honoring our Veteran patients by listening to their stories and commemorating their legacy.
Volunteers provide support in many ways: to provide unique companionship during this difficult time, help enhance the patient's quality of life, reduce the family's care giving burden, assist with household tasks or errands and so much more. Every hospice volunteer has something special and significant to contribute, and we welcome and encourage new ideas.

Description
The focus of Hospice relies on the belief that each of us has the right to die pain-free and with dignity, and that our loved ones will receive the necessary support to allow us to do so.
Hospice focuses on caring, not curing and in most cases care is provided in the person’s home.
Hospice care also is provided in freestanding hospice centers, hospitals, nursing homes and other long-term care facilities.
Hospice services are available to patients of any age, religion, race, or illness.
Hospice care is covered under Medicare, Medi-Cal, most private insurance plans, HMOs, and other managed care organizations.
