A local non-profit, public charter school is looking for part time Art Instructors who are willing to travel to 1+ locations 1+ times a week for ongoing mini art classes with low income, at-risk kids.

Based on class schedules, the days and times of the classes may vary.

Q. What are we looking for?
A. Creative artists who have classroom management skills with a background in K-12 ed or working with kids in general.

Q. What is this part time opportunity look like?
A. Teaching simple art classes to low income kids, k-12. Instruction must be thoughtful, planned, age appropriate, fun, engaging, and have a quick turn around.

Q. Where do classes take place?
A. We have approx. 22 satellite locations around the greater Denver metro area. Classes would take place at 1+ of these locations.

Q. Where do supplies come from?
A. After being extended the formal opportunity, we will talk about your ideas for art projects. You will submit a basic list of art supplies and we will get them for you. Artists with a natural eye for re-purposing or recycling materials do very well with this opportunity.

Q. Is there an art room at each location?
A. At most, if not all our locations, there is no art room due to space limitations.

Requirements:
All must be willing to submit to a background check and must be legally able to work with children. Finger prints will also be taken. NO degree necessary, but you will need to provide legitimate examples of your instruction and artistic abilities.

Our students are unique. Many come from very challenging and diverse family backgrounds. Many students in lower grades are English Language Learners. Our students do not mold well to traditional school settings or approaches. Many have been victims of bullying. Fine arts are important to low income kids. They need and thrive on artistic expression.

Mission Statement

At HOPE, our pillars - Attend, Achieve, Affiliate, Aspire - influence our learning culture. The motivation for all our decisions and everything we do on behalf of our students is represented by these four principles. The HOPE educational program model brings together: High-quality curricula that meets or exceeds Colorado Academic Standards and federal Common Core standards A learning model that allows students to work at their own pace Licensed teachers who lead instruction One-on-one community mentor support

Description

HOPE is a blended learning model where K-12 students receive instruction online and through face-to-face classroom instruction. Students attend a community-based Learning Center five days a week for the full school day. Curriculum is assigned and supervised under the direction of a teacher and mentor. There are low student-educator ratios, meaning students get a high level of personal attention in the classroom.

There are nearly 30 HOPE Learning Centers across Colorado in communities, including Metro Denver, Pueblo, Greeley and Leadville. Learning Centers provide an atmosphere of enthusiasm and confidence to promote student learning. On any given school day, students move from online lessons on computers to complimentary offline assignments at desks to fresh air during gym class and recess. HOPE Learning Centers also engage extended families, neighborhood volunteers and community leaders to share wisdom, experience and resources with HOPE students.
