ORGANIZATION: Mississippi National River and Recreation Area, National Park Service

Camp Propel students have just finished 2nd grade, and are learning about fish. Assist students with summer school field trip activities relating to aquatic life. We will help them understand the aquatic ecosystem with activities involving aquatic bugs, mussels, northern pike, minnow seining and water quality. The work will be primarily outdoors, near the river. Please come prepared with sunscreen, bug spray, hat, lunch and water bottle. Any training will be done the day of the camp.

Description

The Volunteers-In-Parks program is a joint program with Mississippi Park Connection. Mississippi National River and Recreation Area represents America's greatest river, the Mississippi, which weaves together the natural and cultural heritage and economic vitality of the region. The National Park Service works with partners to foster increased citizen awareness, advocacy, and enjoyment of the resources of the Mississippi River.

Volunteer-In-Parks provides people with opportunities to discover, experience, and enjoy the diversity of the Mississippi River while also preserving it for future generations through volunteer restoration projects and education programs.
