Please visit the new page to apply.
The National Park Service is partnering with the YMCA of the Greater Twin Cities to create a week long day camp with a Junior Ranger theme. Before the day of this program, Rangers will have visited campers throughout the week to create seed balls, talk about how prairies help the river, and introduce the National Park Service. For this activity day, the campers will be coming out to their local National Park to take a hike with some binoculars, visit the river, and ID some of the native plants already in the park. The culmination of the day will be the campers throwing the seed balls they made into the existing prairie sites and being sworn in as Junior Rangers. Volunteers will work with rangers to guide a group of campers through all the activities as well as to help with set up and take down. There will be minimal lifting required, but lots of walking and being on your feet. Dress for the weather, we will be outside rain or shine, and don't forget the bug spray! You should also plan to bring a lunch. No experience is necessary, training will be minimal and will happen the day of the program. Please help us show these campers a fun day at the park!
