Volunteers are needed to assist with recording field data for the park Forest Management Plan; all training will be provided the day of data collection. More than 400 additional data points need to be taken this season. Volunteer will need to be able to walk/travel long distances. Volunteers and staff will be walking off of paths into forested areas; volunteers will need to be comfortable walking through potentially dense understory vegetation (grasses, young trees, shrubs). The ground may be uneven and/or soggy.

Mission Statement
The Volunteers-In-Parks program, jointly managed by Mississippi National River and Recreation Area and Mississippi Park Connection, connects, educates, and promotes the enjoyment of the resources of the Mississippi River through unique and entertaining volunteer opportunities to the entire community.
Description
The Volunteers-In-Parks program is a joint program with Mississippi Park Connection. Mississippi National River and Recreation Area represents America's greatest river, the Mississippi, which weaves together the natural and cultural heritage and economic vitality of the region. The National Park Service works with partners to foster increased citizen awareness, advocacy, and enjoyment of the resources of the Mississippi River.
Volunteer-In-Parks provides people with opportunities to discover, experience, and enjoy the diversity of the Mississippi River while also preserving it for future generations through volunteer restoration projects and education programs.
