Alliance for Supportive Housing, Inc. (ASH) Board Treasurer

  • Knowledge - Thorough understanding of the financial reports. It helps to have a strong financial background, and knowledge of nonprofit financial terminology and requirements.
  • Communications - Able to translate financial information and financial concepts for the board. The treasurer needs to help to explain the financials in a way that everyone understands the reports. It’s also the treasurer’s role to interpret and translate the board’s questions, goals, or concerns about the financial information or financial situation to the staff.
  • Planning - Partner with the staff leadership to develop a useful budget. The treasurer can bring great value in preparing for budget discussions and conveying budget information to the board. Budgets are the financial version of an annual or strategic plan and the treasurer is in the best position to make sure that budget priorities and decisions reflect the intentions and objectives of the board.
  • Strategy - Great treasurers go above and beyond annual budgets, audits, and financial reports to bring financial leadership to the organization. Great treasurers look to the future to find the financial options and decisions needed for longer term goals and initiate discussions to connect finance and mission.

If You have the skills and passion to help us serve members of our community who struggle with serious mental illnesses, please reply to this request.

About ALLIANCE FOR SUPPORTIVE HOUSING

Location:

Mission Statement

Developing permanent affordable housing for adults with serious mental illness.

Description

Twenty years ago, a group of parents discussed the housing needs for their loved ones and others living with serious mental illness. They envisioned independent living as the foundation for a housing plan. But they knew an apartment wasn’t enough. It would need to come with supports. The supports would include family, volunteers, clinicians, mental health advocates and agencies. Iris Place would become its name.

After 20 years, the original Iris Place has proven supported living in its truest sense works.

Iris Place has demonstrated the long-term sustainability of its effective housing model. To build the next Iris Place our architect has reported we need $3 million.

That’s a lot of money. It hasn’t been easy, but I’m confident that a great majority of you would like to see Iris Place II built. We own the land and have foundation’s support. We need You.
