On September 7th, between 12pm and 9pm, a new event will be emerging in Cleveland, Ohio in the form of musical performances, workshops, educational demos, engaging art installations, a kids zone, a farmers market, and food & art vendors.
Fresh Fest was envisioned and planned by local teens in the One Garden Valley youth leadership program, facilitated by Environmental Health Watch.
This one day event will be hosted on 26.5 acres of previously vacant land in the Kinsman neighborhood that has been repurposed by the City of Cleveland. The Urban Agriculture Innovation Zone (UAIZ), is home to Rid-All Urban Farm, one of the largest and most popular urban farms in Cleveland, and one of the spaces we will be activating.
This will be a safe space that engages those living in the community and will strive to break down barriers and stigmas of those living outside of the community.
This event is brought to you by The One Garden Valley Initiative , which is a national Kresge FreshLo (Fresh, Local, and Equitable) two-year funded program . A strong partnership between Environmental Health Watch, Rid-All Green Partnership Farm, Fresh by Nature Records, and the Garden Valley Neighborhood House all make this mission and vision possible.
The Mission: One Garden Valley represents a unified and fertile neighborhood where talented youth, strong elders, and families work together to establish a connected, safe, and supported community. Emphasizing cultural unity, creating greater stakeholder agency, and business connectio ns. This project will foster a healthy community that supports collaborative energy, ownership, and value.
The Vision: We will activate creative safe spaces and inspire leadership through holistic
entrepreneurial activities focused on performing arts, visual & media arts, culinary arts, health & wellness, and urban agriculture. In addition, we will conduct workshops and educational demos promoting sustainability in health, arts, and community for all ages.
