Provide a ride to a cancer patient - Cuyahoga County
An estimated 68,000 Ohio residents will learn they have cancer this year and getting to their scheduled treatment will be one of their greatest roadblocks.
Many cancer patients don’t own a vehicle or are unable to drive due to age or side effects of cancer treatment. Even with a great local support system, it is often difficult for family and friends to take off work to help someone with numerous treatment appointments. Even the best treatment can’t work if a patient can’t get there.
The American Cancer Society Road To Recovery program coordinates volunteers to provide transportation to cancer patients in their community.
The American Cancer Society is currently in need of volunteer drivers across Summit county.
Volunteer drivers donate their time and the use of their vehicles, so patients can receive the cancer-related treatments they need. Drivers also provide encouragement and support.
It is a flexible opportunity and volunteers can sign up for rides on a case-by-case basis depending on their availability. Volunteers get to make their schedule - some drive a few times a year, some drive a few times a week. By signing up to become a driver, volunteers can provide a potentially lifesaving service in their community.
To volunteer, you must have a valid driver’s license, a safe and reliable vehicle, proof of automobile insurance, a computer or tablet, and have some flexible availability Monday-Friday 7am-6pm. Drivers must be 18-85 years old and have a good driving history. The American Cancer Society provides free training to drivers and conducts criminal background and driving record checks.

Description
Raising donations for participation in Relay For Life and Making Strides for Breast Cancer is fun as well as challenging.
There are so many people and organizations in your community that want to contribute. It is simply a matter of a creative approach.
Participants seek donations rather than pledges from family, friends and associates.
Most fundraising is done prior to, and at, the Relay For Life and Making Strides for Breast Cancer events,
although many teams choose to fundraise year-round.
