The Crisis & Information Center (CIC) is a 24/7 crisis hotline, answering calls from individuals in crisis who need emotional support as well as callers who need information about community resources. CIC’s core mission is to provide a safe space for individuals in need to talk in an open, empathetic, non-judgmental environment. Our volunteers undergo extensive training in crisis intervention, mental health counseling, suicide prevention / intervention, and information and referral (I&R).
After successful completion of this training, volunteers either become crisis counselors who take calls on CIC’s crisis hotline for a minimum of four hours a week. Or volunteers have the option of working more specifically as volunteer I&R specialists, focusing more on supporting and educating crisis counselors and helping CIC to build relationships with community agencies. While CIC’s program is very challenging and requires a lot from volunteers, it is also a unique, immensely rewarding experience to be available to callers in need.More opportunities with Seven County Services - Brooklawn and Bellewood
