POSITION PROFILE: The Volunteer Leader - Donation Receiving is responsible for receiving, recording and delivering packages; notifying recipients; and may assist with receiving in-kind donations. The Volunteer Leader will work from the Receiving Office located in the warehouse, behind the Thrift Store.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Receive packages and enter them into the tracking system. Record packages as delivered when recipients come to pick up.
· Perform deliveries to a select few departments which are not able to come get their packages.
· Help maintain accurate database and perform daily audits. Help maintain contact list via weekly updates.
· Assist with receiving in-kind donations, provide excellent customer service to donors, and promote the giving spirit at Metropolitan Ministries.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Education and Experience
o Attend an orientation session
o Work with a diverse population
o Ability to work independently and as a team player
o High School diploma, preferred
o On-the-job training will be provided
· Skill Requirements
o Ability to follow instructions
o Attention to detail
o Ability to handle conflict in a professional and mature manner
o Possess a solid command of the English language
o Basic computer knowledge
· Physical Requirements
o Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time
o Ability to walk and climb stairs and lift 20 lbs.
o Ability to work in outdoor/temporary shelter environment occasionally
o Ability to operate all components of a computer
