Join us on Thursday, August 8, when United Way teams up with the Minnesota Wild at Xcel Energy Center to host Action Day 2019. This free, family-friendly event is your chance to make an immediate impact on the educational success of kids in our community and have a ton of fun!

Each year, more than 100,000 students in our community go back to school without a backpack and the essential supplies needed to learn and succeed in the classroom.

Since 2016, United Way has been teaming up with all seven of Minnesota’s pro sports teams to bring volunteers together at Action Day to help local students start the school year ready to learn by filling backpacks with school supplies.

In 2019, we will unite 4,000 volunteers to pack 40,000 backpacks that will be distributed to students through nonprofits and school districts across the metro area.

Register now to volunteer to have an immediate impact. In addition to volunteering, Action Day will be action-packed, featuring a Prize Playbook, games, prizes and photo booths.

To minimize the volunteer lines, please sign up for one of three timeframes:

• 12 - 3 p.m. - 1st Period
• 3 - 5 p.m. - 2nd Period
• 5 - 7 p.m. - 3rd Period

You’re welcome to enjoy all the activities Action Day has to offer for as long as you’d like, however, we ask you complete the volunteer project during the timeframe for which you sign up.

All backpack assembly volunteers must be ages 8 and up. Children under the age of 8 can still complete a special volunteer project.
