The Marketing/Communications Intern will assist with developing and managing both external and internal communications for Passaic County CASA.
Responsibilities
- Write blog posts for the Passaic County CASA website
- Interview CASA volunteers, staff, and board members for profiles
- Develop content for the organization’s social media channels and website
- Write press releases and articles
- Track and compile mentions of Passaic County CASA in the media
Requirements:
- Must be able to work 15-20 hours per week
- Must be able to pass a background check
- Have writing experience
- Interest in child welfare, advocacy, and/or nonprofit work
- Be creative
- Demonstrate professionalism
- Handle sensitive, confidential information
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience with web content management systems
- Experience with photography or graphic design
- Spanish language proficiency

Passaic County CASA is a nonprofit organization that recruits, screens, trains, and supervises volunteers to "Speak Up for a Child" removed from home due to abuse or neglect. CASA is the only program in New Jersey that uses trained volunteers to work one-on-one with children, ensuring that each child receives needed services and achieves permanency in a safe, nurturing home.

CASA volunteers serve as a child's advocate in court and are committed to ensuring that needed services and assistance are made available to children in need.
Description
Every year more than half a million abused and neglected children are in need of safe, permanent, nurturing homes.
That's where CASA steps in. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) was created in 1977 to make sure the abuse and neglect these children originally suffered at home doesn't continue as abuse and neglect at the hands of the system. As trained advocates, CASA volunteers are appointed by judges to be a voice for these children in court. The result is that a child has an individual advocate to speak for them in court.
It is the CASA vision to provide a volunteer for each and every abused and neglected child who needs one.
