ORGANIZATION: America in Bloom - St. Charles, IL

Serve as pacer/time keeper/sweeper for the walking tour of St. Charles, which is part of the America in Bloom national symposium hosted in St. Charles. Each time keeper/sweeper will keep on schedule and safely guide a group of approximately 20 symposium attendees to 8 different locations around downtown St. Charles: Mount St. Mary's Park, Bob Leonard Walkway, Beith House, Municipal Center, Pottawatomie Park and Arcada Theatre. Time keeps/sweeprrs focus on keeping the group together and on schedule for the St. Charles on this walking tour. Docents will be present at each tour stop to make presentations about the significance of each building/location. This is a WALKING tour, so volunteers must be comfortable traversing the route rain or shine. Each time keeper/sweeper will be accompanied by a tour guide to assist with the tour group. Luncheon is included.

A training session is required. Choose one of two dates for the training session: September 17 at 5 p.m. OR September 25 at 9 am. Training location TBA.

St. Charles is hosting the national America in Bloom Annual symposium and Awards Ceremony. We are seeking volunteers to support symposium efforts to assure we make the best impression and provide our guests with an enjoyable visiting experience.

The America in Bloom program focuses on ways to improve communities in several distinct areas, including heritage preservation, urban forestry and environmental initiatives. AIB empowers communities to beautify and to improve the overall quality of life through its National Awards Program and Annual Symposium & Awards Celebration.

America in Bloom - St. Charles, IL is a collaborative effort between the City of St. Charles, St. Charles Park District, local organizations, and volunteers with the mission of improving St. Charles through floral displays, landscaped areas, environmental initiatives, and heritage preservation. We plant pride in our community through volunteerism with the goal of making St. Charles a welcoming and vibrant place to live, work and play. On October 3-5, 2019, St. Charles is hosting the national American in Bloom Annual Symposium & Awards Celebration. We are seeking volunteers to support symposium efforts to assure we make the best impression and provide our guest with an enjoyable visiting experience.

  • Must be at least 21
  • 5 hour time commitment plus one training meeting
  • Must be comfortable leading a group of adults of various ages. Must be comfortable walking and being in the outdoors for the length of the tour.
