Join the World Science Festival's "City of Science" Volunteer Team to bring science to life at Lehman College's Apex Centeron Saturday, July 27, 2019!
The World Science Festival is looking for volunteers to help run large scale STEM exhibits. Whether you're majoring in science or you're a science enthusiast, we need your help welcoming kids and families to this FREE, all-day science extravaganza. We hope you will join the City of Science Bronx Volunteer Team!
Volunteer Qualifications:
- Feel comfortable working with people of all backgrounds, ages, and levels of familiarity with science.
- Possess excellent communication skills.
- Have a background in science, or a passion for learning and sharing knowledge.
- Be dedicated, committed, reliable, flexible and professional.
- Be at least 16 years old.
Show your dedication to STEM! Register Here: https://forms.gle/ Fde1TEkaKiYhZwWf6 by July 16. What you'll do: Imagine kids as young as eight describing Conservation of Energy or even Einstein’s Theory of General Relativity. CITY OF SCIENCE's larger-than-life exhibits and great science explainers help kids and parents learn through the power and wonder of scientific discovery.
- Science students and faculty can sign up to be a Science Ambassador to explain exhibits.
- College and high school students and science enthusiasts can Volunteer to help run the event.
- Earn eight (8) hours of community service.
- Meet and Network with faculty, scientists, and organizations such as NASA, The Bronx Museum of the Arts, Bronx Children's Museum, NYBG, Society for Neuroscience, among others.
- Lunch and snacks provided.
- Receive a City of Science t-shirt.
- Learn how to communicate science.
- Introduce thousands of eager kids to STEM!

The goal of the World Science Festival is to help shift the public's perception of science so that more and more people see science as wondrous, exciting, accessible, and even inspirational.
Description
The World Science Festival will allow science enthusiasts to engage many topics in modern science, while also encouraging those who may be on the periphery of science - artists, students, children, families, policy-makers, and educators - to think about the many ways scientific inquiry impacts their lives. The Festival brings together Nobel Laureates, researchers, technologists, educators, policy-makers, with creative artists, filmmakers, and performers. Together through lectures, panels, debates, film, music, theater, and interactive events, the Festival will showcase cutting edge ideas and reveal science's pivotal role in addressing critical global issues. Participants will guide the audience to experience science as never before.
