Join South Bay Clean Creeks Coalition (SBCCC) for a housewarming of sorts as we move into the former Ranger's Station / Visitor's Center in San Jose's Confluence Park, re-purposing the space as its Watershed Action Center. Since the Rangers left in 2008, the building and surrounding grounds have become a bit blighted.

On this first event (there is a second event, entitled Watershed Action Day, August 24, and there will be more later) ameliorating the blight , volunteers will: power-wash the deck, stairs, ramp, and areas under the deck, stairs, and ramp; wash windows inside and out; and sweep and mop interior floors.

As this is a late afternoon / early evening event and we expect many volunteers to be coming hungry from work, our Executive Director will be barbecuing brats, hamburgers and veggie burgers, and serving various drinks (non-alcoholic) throughout the evening. Additionally, being held in conjunction with San Jose's observance of National Night Out, we are expecting officers from SJPD and other City of SJ representatives to stop by sometime after 5:00 pm. Moreover, though we show shifts, volunteers are free to arrive and depart as they please. Volunteers are also free to work or break to eat and socialize as they please. The shifts are just there to provide a rough count for planning purposes. Further, because we won't want to contaminate food, the power washing of the deck, stairs, ramp and areas under the stairs will actually occur before the formal event.

Finally, street parking (on Autumn Street) is limited. Therefore we encourage you to carpool, walk if you work or live downtown, preferably with a friend, or take public transit. There is a bus stop at Confluence Park, served that time by VTA buses 22 and 68, while there is a VTA light rail station two blocks away (San Fernando Station on the Winchester to Mountain View line).
