Protecting Migratory Pathways
ORGANIZATION: APPALACHIAN TRAIL CONSERVANCY
Please visit the new page to apply.
The federal legislation that fortifies the security of the Appalachian Trails provides for a protected corridor of its adjacent lands. This corridor not only buffers the Trail from encroaching development, it also serves as a migratory path for many species on the eastern seaboard.
Join the Dartmouth Outing Club on Saturday, July 13 and monitor the corridor boundaries of the Appalachian Trail. Monitoring the Trails corridor between Hanover and Mt. Moosilauke requires hiking through rough terrain and following the blazes of the Trail’s "property line" ensuring that no encroachments are being made on this priceless resource. Work includes walking off-trail to identify markers, and some orientation navigation. Training will be provided.
Be sure to wear sturdy boots, long pants, and work gloves. Also, bring your own lunch, personal snacks, a rain jacket, insect repellent, and plenty of water.

Description
Appalachian Trail (A.T.) is a project built on civic engagement. It exists because people like you step up and help out in a variety of ways, outdoors or inside. Activities can be physical (such as Trail work or boundary maintenance), creative (like contributing photography or writing), or organizational (like planning or leading activities).
Volunteers gain new skills through their work. Whether you volunteer because you enjoy time in nature, want to forge new friendships, or appreciate having a deeper connection to a place you hold in high regard, we are glad you are here.
There are a variety of ways to contribute your talents and your time.
