ORGANIZATION: APPALACHIAN TRAIL CONSERVANCY

Konnarock Volunteers

Wild East Women’s work days on the A.T. can motivate, empower, and inspire more women to pick up the tools and become stewards for a more equitable volunteer corps. This particular event will be taking place on Saturday, July 20 at 9:30 a.m.

The group will be meeting at Pawling Nature Preserve in Pawling, NY. If you plan to travel from Grand Central Station on the Metro North line, you may be eligible for a discounted ticket. Please contact the trip leader to inquire.

After a moderate, brief hike, you will have the opportunity to clear erosion control structures, cut back overgrown vegetation from the sides of the Trail, as well as mark the A.T. with its symbolic 2"X6" white blaze. Beginners are welcome! The event will end around 1:30 in the afternoon. Work gloves and tools provided.

You are welcome to stay for an optional afternoon hike from 2:00 pm until about 4:30.

Be sure to wear long pants and sturdy boots. Bring plenty of water (3 liters recommended) and snacks, a lunch, sunscreen, bug spray, and a rain jacket.

Mission Statement

The Appalachian Trail Conservancy’s mission is to protect, manage, and advocate for the Appalachian National Scenic Trail.

Description

Appalachian Trail (A.T.) is a project built on civic engagement. It exists because people like you step up and help out in a variety of ways, outdoors or inside. Activities can be physical (such as Trail work or boundary maintenance), creative (like contributing photography or writing), or organizational (like planning or leading activities).

Volunteers gain new skills through their work. Whether you volunteer because you enjoy time in nature, want to forge new friendships, or appreciate having a deeper connection to a place you hold in high regard, we are glad you are here.

There are a variety of ways to contribute your talents and your time.
