When help can’t wait during emergencies, people volunteer with the American Red Cross to provide relief and care. Our mission wouldn’t be possible without these community heroes. During our Red Cross Month celebration in March, we honor their commitment to supporting people in need.
This annual tradition began 80 years ago when President Franklin Roosevelt issued the first national Red Cross Month proclamation - and each American president has followed ever since. This March, we invite you to turn your compassion into action. Help your neighbors in need by volunteering in one of our most needed roles.
Local Disaster Responder
Every day The American Red Cross responds to approximately 190 house fires across the country. Because of volunteers like you, we are able to respond to the devastation a house fire can bring within 2 hours of receiving the call that a family is in need.
We are actively recruiting for volunteers who want to be part of our Disaster Action Teams (DAT) in Dane County. DAT members respond to local disasters within 2 hours of notification and directly help people affected by disasters by providing food, shelter, essential reliefs supplies, and hope. Full training provided by The American Red Cross - Wisconsin Region.
