Catholic Charities is seeking skilled volunteers to spend an afternoon working with the adult students in our Bank Teller Certification Program to review their professional resumes in preparation for job interviews. The students are primarily speakers of languages other than English and are relatively recent immigrants to the United States. The students are looking for help putting their previous work experience and a summary of their skills into a resume template.
Volunteers will:
- Receive a briefing from Catholic Charities staff before the event
- Use a computer (provided) and a resume template
- Work with students 1-on-1 to refine his or her draft resume
- Give feedback to students and suggest edits to their resumes
Volunteers should be comfortable using a computer and formatting a document, be strong writers with a good command of "resume appropriate language", be fluent in English, and (preferably) have experience working in a customer service profession.
Volunteers must be 21 years or older.
The resume writing workshop will take place at the Spanish Catholic Center in Columbia Heights ( 1618 Monroe St NW, Washington, DC 20010). Catholic Charities’ Spanish Catholic Center is 1/5 mile from the Columbia Heights metro station. Parking is very limited.
